About the Project
Vanchitanchi Shala was the first initiative of Prathana Foundation, launched in 2018 with the vision of reaching children living on the margins of society. The project worked with children who were engaged in begging, living on the streets, or disconnected from formal education. Through regular outreach, counseling, and educational support, the initiative helped children move away from begging, substance abuse, and other harmful influences while reconnecting them with learning opportunities. Led by Prasad Mohite and Anu Mohite, Vanchitanchi Shala served as a bridge between vulnerable children and mainstream education, creating pathways toward a safer and more dignified future. The experiences and learnings from this initiative laid the foundation for the establishment of Prathana Balgram, the Foundation's residential child care project. Although the project is currently not operational due to resource and funding limitations, its impact continues to inspire our work and remains an important chapter in the journey of Prathana Foundation. A Beginning That Sparked a Movement of Hope.
